“The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 Is Both Familiar and Better” – Car and Driver, June 2019

“Mild tweaks to the front and rear facias and fresh head- and taillamps spruce up the exterior, while the integration of the optional MBUX infotainment system addresses the modern consumer's insatiable hunger for screens and tech. Speaking of which, the resolution and image quality of the central 10.3-inch screen are fantastic, and the navigation animations that overlay directional arrows on the camera image of the road are both neat and helpful. An updated steering wheel with the latest touch controls is another pleasant upgrade, particularly since the traditional console mounted clickwheel controller has been banished and replaced by a reasonably intuitive touchpad interface. Along with the touchpad, MBUX also can be controlled via the touchscreen, the steering wheel control pads, or the gesture- and voice-recognition systems.”

“The real news can be found under the hood in the form of the new engine, the M264 turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. It makes 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, a 14-hp improvement over the turbocharged M274 engine it replaces. While fuel-economy numbers haven't been released, Mercedes is billing the new powerplant as a fuel-efficiency and reduced-emissions play, albeit one without any deficit in performance.”

Offered here is a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 SUV in Mojave Silver Metallic (code 859) over Silk Beige (code 115) M-B Tex. The vehicle has been driven a total of just 14,920 miles since being delivered new at Autohaus on Edens in Northbrook, Illinois. The factory window sticker is included showing all standard and optional equipment. (It can also be viewed in the gallery for reference.) The condition of this Mercedes 4WD SUV is very close to brand-new.

Outside, the metallic silver (with tan hints of the desert) paint gleams on every body panel. Not surprisingly given Mercedes' high standards, there are no flaws or inconsistencies in the finish, and there are no scratches, dings, or dents whatsoever. (To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.) Tastefully limited chrome—including the bespoke Mercedes grille, lower-front trim, door handles, tailgate trim, and lower-rear valance—all shows beautifully. Brushed-metal accents on the roof rails and window surrounds are equally well-kept. Twin moonroofs open the cabin to the stars. Mercedes identification is present in the form of the three-pointed star front-grille emblem, similar hood emblem, and the model identification (“GLC 300” and “4 Matic”) with another 3-pointed star on the tailgate. Factory 18-inch, 5-split-spoke wheels with Mercedes-Benz center caps are mounted with Pirelli® Scorpion Verde 235/60 all-season tires.

The interior of the SUV is fitted out like only Mercedes can do. Formed tan door trim on all four doors is beautifully enhanced with textured, low-sheen wood inserts and brushed-metal accents, including the Burmeister® audio system speakers. Charcoal-colored carpeting covers the cabin and cargo-area floors, with all-weather mats added for protection. MB-Tex upholstery in light tan covers the front bucket seats and 3-position (or two-position with the armrest deployed) rear bench seat. There are no marks or other flaws on the upholstery. The cargo area includes below-floor storage and a roll-out shade to conceal packages; some of the cargo-management systems have never been used. The Mercedes-branded multifunction steering wheel frames analog instrumentation set in black. Beneath the 10.5-inch infotainment screen, the center console shares the same attractive textured wood as the door trim. Shift paddles and the touchpad control the 9-speed automatic transmission. Colored interior ambient lighting adds dramatic effect to the cabin. (Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the excellent condition of the Mercedes' interior surfaces.)

Under the hood, the turbocharged Mercedes inline-4-cylinder produces 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It occupies an engine bay that is spotless; it could not have looked any better the day the vehicles rolled out of the factory. All components remain correctly mounted and there are no indications of any performance modifications. Viewed from below, the chassis is clean and free of any damage. All factory-mounted protective panels remain in place. With the exception of untreated metal on the exhaust system, there is zero rust.

All factory-mounted identification and information tags remain in place. The full complement of owner literature and two programmed keys are included in the sale.

While the more than 190 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available on the GarageKeptMotors website showcase this 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 in detail from every angle, including from below, we expect and encourage in-person inspections at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. Please call to arrange an appointment in advance as our showroom is not open to the public. And feel free to get in touch anytime by phone or email if you have questions.

Car and Driver summed up: “… the latest iteration of Mercedes's popular GLC300 offers just enough styling and tech updates to keep things interesting without rocking the boat. If you liked the old one, you'll love the new one.”

Updated Mercedes design. Updated Mercedes power. Updated Mercedes refinement. All in this virtually new GLC 300 SUV. The attraction is strong indeed.
